HAKESPEARE'S   ONNETS

This is part of the web site of Shakespeare's sonnets

Portrait of Alfred Lord Tennyson.

(In 1851) .... he rented and afterwards bought a little house and farm called Farringford, near Freshwater, in the Isle of Wight. It was a beautiful place ringed round with ilexes and cedars, and in it Tennyson and his wife lived a happy, simple life. The laureate might often have been seen sweeping up the leaves, or laying fresh gravel on the garden walks.

This portrait of Tennyson is not available elsewhere, and hence is included on the Sonnets web site, though not strictly speaking relevant to the theme. A rather whacky example of portraiture is it not?
